Printer set-up for FKB Windows machines

Ethernet - SLAC Network

Start Menu -> Setting -> Printers and Faxes
Click Add Printer
Click Next on the "Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard" screen
"Local or Network Printer" screen will open
Select A network printer
Select Find a printer in the directory
"Find Printers" screen will open
Click Find Now
Select on Name

051-2LOB-HP5550CPS-01 for HP Color Laserjet 5550dtn on the 2nd fl
051-320-HP9050PS-01 for HP Laserjet 9050n on the 3rd fl

Click OK
Select Yes/No on the "Default Printer" screen
Click Next
Click Finish

Wireless - Ethenet Visitor Network

Start Menu -> Setting -> Printers and Faxes
Click on Add Printer
Click Next on the "Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard" screen
"Local or Network Printer" screen will open
Select Local printer
Uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer
"Select a Printer Port" screen will open
Select Create a new port
In the "Type of port" dropdown list, select Standard TCP/IP Port
Click Next
Click Next again on the Welcome screen
"Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" screen will open
For Printer Name or IP Address, enter PRINTSERV.slac.stanford.edu
For Port Name,
Enter ki2bw or ki2co for HP Laserjet 9050n or HP Color Laserjet 5550dtn on the 2nd fl
Enter ki3bw or ki3co for HP Laserjet 9050n or HP Color Laserjet 5550dn on the 3rd fl
Click Next
"Additional Port Information Required" screen will open
Select Custom
Click Settings
"Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor" screen will open
Ensure the Port Name (***, ki3bw or ki3co) and Printer Name or IP Address (PRINTSERV.slac.stanford.edu)
In the Protocol section, select LPR
In the Queue Name field, enter the UNIX Queue name (ki3bw or ki3co)
Click on the LPR Byte Counting Enabled checkbox
Click OK, Next, and Finish
"Install Printer Software" screen will open
Click Windows Update
Select HP on Manufacturer menu
Select HP Laserjet 9050 PS for ki2bw and ki3bw, or HP Color Laserjet 5550 PS for ki2co and ki3co on Printers menu.
Click Next
"Name Your Printer" screen will open
Enter a printer name as you like and click Next
Click Next on the screen "Printer Sharing"
Click Yes/No as you like on the screen "Print Test Page"
Click Next
Click Finish

Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 Printing with LPD

From the "System Preferences", click on "Print & Fax" 
Click on "+" sign to add a new printer

Use "IP Printer" and select or type the following:

Protocol:

Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Address:printserv.slac.stanford.edu
Queue:Your network queue name from SLAC printserv.
Do not use with ***.slac.stanford.edu
(i.e., "ki1bw" without slac.stanford.edu)
Name:You can name anything you want for your preference
Location:Physical location of printer for you to remember.
(Highly recommended to put something in there)
Print Using:Select your network printer/printer driver from the list.
If it does not show in the list, you must download the driver from manufacture.


Select printer preferences such as duplex, memory, hard drive storage on printer
After that, click on "Continue" and you are done.
