PAB Lighting and Heating

The mysteries of the PAB heating and lighting systems...

Office Lighting

There are two buttons, each controlling half of the lights. Push one on for dimmed lighting; push both on for brighter lighting 1.

Motion sensors will shut all lights off when the room is not in use 2.

Lab Lighting

Light switches control different fixtures. Motion sensors only work if the switches are in the ON position. Emergency lights will automatically be powered, even if the switches are OFF. Suggested typical use: Leave all fixtures on, all the time.

Using the Thermostats

Regular screen displays current room temperature, deg F. To manipulate the room temperature:
  1. Push the adjust (top left, marked with a triangle) button once and it will blink.
  2. Select the desired temperature with the plus or minus buttons (upper right). This button has up and down arrows.
  3. Change may take up to 15-20 minutes.
Typical thermostats can adjust air temperature from 68 deg F to 75 deg F 3.

Thermostats in Offices

Naturally adjusting temperature 6am-8pm, Monday-Friday. During "off-times" rooms will adjust temperature to 55-85 deg F. To occupy room and override "off-time" temperature range:
  1. Press override button (lower right, looks like a house).
  2. Room will condition air to user requested temperature for 2 hours.
  3. Press button again after 2 hours to continue override.

Thermostats in Labs

No "off-time", always conditioning air to user requested temperature 4.

  1. Actually, push both buttons, squint at the lights to try and figure if both came on or not; decide they did not; press one of the buttons again; find you have just turned off all the lights; start again.
  2. Actually, even if room is in use - fun!
  3. What happens if you set a temp outside this range? Who knows...
  4. Because machinery is obviously more important than people, and obviously nobody has computers or anything in their office. What are you, stupid?
