Next generation ground-based gamma-ray detectors: scientific motivations, potential and perspectives

Abstract

The motivations and perspectives of ground based gamma-ray astronomy in the context of major scientific objectives relevant to the energy range  from 10 GeV to 1 PeV will be discussed.
