Dark matter annihilation effects on the first stars

I will discuss the two main physical mechanisms by means of which the first stars in the Universe (Population III) may be powered by WIMP dark matter: a mechanism of gravitational contraction and annihilation of the DM particles residing within the proto star acts at early times during stellar formation and may lead to a meta-stable phase. Later, scattering and accumulation of halo WIMPs may power the formed star, up to a potentially everlasting phase, depending on environmental conditions and parameter values.
