Bayesian statistics provides a clear, consistent framework for analyzing data. Sophisticated analysis software and an increasing number of papers use bayesian analysis, and so should you. I'll explain the advantages of Bayesian analysis and how you can incorporate it into your research. Topics include parameter estimation, model selection, and demystifying the 'prior'.

This is part one of a two part Bayesian statistics series. In part I, you'll learn how to set up a Bayesian calculation. Next week, Adam Mantz will show how to actually compute a Bayesian calculation with Monte Carlo techniques.
