Inflation: an Observer's Primer

Inflation, as an idea, is a fundamental component of the standard cosmological model. With the modern and future era of precision cosmology, it is possible to constrain specific models of inflation. In this talk, I will sketch out why cosmologists believe inflation is real. Then I will describe how experiments, such as CMB polarization measurements and gravitational wave detection, will allow us to probe the physics behind inflation.
