Dark Matter Zoology

Observational evidence from a variety of sources indicates that roughly 25% of the universe is composed of a form of matter that only significantly interacts gravitationally. Furthermore, this ``dark'' matter determines most of the structural properties of the universe. However, we scientists have no clue what actually comprises it. Not surprisingly, the theorists have had a field day and provided legions of models that all claim to provide dark matter candidates. I will examine some of the major classes of popular and/or plausible models. I promise not to discuss experimental detection methods at all.
