 ch areas as the learning-centered approach\, backwards course design\,
  and different learning styles. You will gain enough of a foundation i
 n these topics that you can start applying the central ideas to your o
 wn educational activities. (The focus of the workshop will be on forma
 l education\, but the material is relevant to public outreach as well.
 ) Suggested reading for further immersion into the subject of effectiv
 e science teaching will also be provided. Be prepared to actively part
 icipate in the workshop.
