DES Year 1 Results: Expectations vs Reality

SLAC, Kavli 3rd Floor Conf. Room

Michael Troxel (Ohio State)

I will outline the process we went through in DES to develop and implement (from producing catalogs to writing the papers) a combined '3x2pt' analysis of weak lensing and galaxy clustering with our first year data set. The expectation of how this would happen two years ago and the reality provide a series of lessons for planning future analyses and organizing work in large collaborations.

Experience with the LSST DM software stack and data reprocessing

Abstract: I will present my experience with the LSST DM stack during 2.5 years of daily usage. I will show how the stack is being used in the framework of the DESC reprocessing task force in order to reprocess CFHT data. I will also present the work initiated at IN2P3 to develop a new simultaneous astrometry fitter based on sparse matrix algebra and how it has been implemented in the LSST DM stack. This can be viewed as a precursor work in view of future LSST level 3 algorithm developments.
