Since their discovery, compacts objects of all shapes and sizes have been at the forefront of astrophysics allowing us to study matter and physics in extreme conditions often not accessible to laboratories on earth. I will give a brief overview of white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes as well as current research efforts to understand these peculiar objects and the physical laws that govern them.
