Attempting to describe the physics of the universe as a whole, and testing our description with many different kinds of observations, has led us to a strange situation: We have a useful standard model of the cosmos. But its main components, dark matter and dark energy, are quite odd and not well understood. In this seminar, we'll discuss the biography of the cosmos, what we know about it from observations, and what we hope to know much better soon.
