Astrophysics Colloquium: From high-energy astrophysics to medical physics and back

Abstract: Gamma-ray observations during the past 20 years have revealed an astonishingly rich picture of the high-energy Universe. The combination of ground-based and space-based instruments have advanced our understanding of the physics of the accelerators and the methodology with which we extract information. In this talk, I will briefly summarise my current view on the status of high-energy astrophysics. At the same time, I will describe efforts to transfer technological advances into other areas of science.
