Abstract: Prabhu will discuss a new class of self-interacting dark matter models in which dark matter possesses a feeble, long-range self interaction. In such models, dark matter exhibits collective effects, analogous to plasmas. They will discuss how such models can modify galactic structure, addressing various tensions between predictions of cold dark matter simulations and observations. Prabhu will also discuss the use of existing and novel numerical techniques for studying the dark matter dynamics in this model.
