KIPAC Gaia DR4 x Agentic AI Sprint: Decoding the Milky Way at Stanford
Event Details:
Gaia has transformed our view of the Milky Way, providing astrometric information for over a billion stars. Gaia DR4 will substantially expand the dataset, with more detailed time-domain information, deeper spectrophotometric data products, and significantly improved parallaxes and proper motions.
We want to bring our communities together to explore the new data as soon as it arrives to us and connect work across KIPAC, from ISM and dust mapping to stellar streams, Milky Way substructure, and the machine-learning efforts in C4DU. We’re also interested in what AI and ML methods can do with a dataset of this scale, whether stellar parameter inference, anomaly detection and discovery in the new catalogs, or whatever else grabs your interest!
Everyone at KIPAC is welcome, and no prior Gaia experience is needed . We’ll provide pointers and tutorials before and during the Sprint.
More information on the agenda, registration, etc. coming soon.
