Paul Simeon
Paul Simeon is an astrophysicist working on the origin of cosmic rays, with a particular focus on particle acceleration at shocks in large-scale cosmic structures. His research explores how cosmic rays are accelerated across a hierarchy of environments—from Galactic sources to accretion shocks around filaments and galaxy clusters—and how these processes shape the observed energy spectrum and composition. In addition to his research, he has taught and co-taught a wide range of courses in the Stanford Physics Department and has contributed to the development of physics courses that emphasize active-learning approaches. He is currently an independent researcher collaborating with members of KIPAC and with collaborators at other institutions.
Education: Ph. D., Stanford University, Physics (2014)
