KIPAC is proud to offer a science communication training workshop designed specifically for our own members!
Whether you’re a seasoned speaker or just starting out, you will benefit from this training by learning how to set overall communication goals and frameworks that are aligned with our public engagement strategic plan, as well as practicing the principles needed to effectively engage diverse audiences.
During this 4-hour interactive workshop, participants will learn about the following topics with hands-on practice:
- SciComms 101: How to Give a Good Talk (subtopics: structuring an engaging public lecture, building trust)
- Tailoring Your Talk for Specific Audiences (subtopics: considering your audience, matching stories to motivations, intentional slides; case studies for pitching to policymakers and funders)
- How to Gain Confidence in Public Speaking (subtopics: cultural relevance, authenticity)
This workshop is open to KIPAC members at all career levels. While spots are limited (ideal group size ~25), we will try to accommodate everyone who's interested in participating in some way. If you would like to attend the workshop, please register using this Google form by Friday, April 3 and mark your calendar!
